It all began with an idea

Most people who know me know I love ideas and learning. And most people who know Andrew, know he is the one can turn my ideas into reality. Well, the farm was now different. It all began with an idea sparked from an uncanny discussion about a man who was paying his mortgage with avocados. We don’t grow avocados, that’s not the point. The point is, it sparked the discussion, that the farm that our friends were selling, maybe, just maybe, could work for us. And that’s where our dream to become city folk turned part-time farmers started.

In June 2023, we officially took over ownership of the farm. It was not smooth sailing. The fences werent finished, I was chasing cows into the neighbours property, our neighbours (5km!) down the road kindly found them and brought them back. There were a lot of frustrations! But I learnt a lot. I learnt that cows cant be trusted to stay in their fenced areas, I learnt how fences worked and I learnt how to build a fence. So, within a short time, we were well on our way to starting our bumpy farm life journey. And we couldn’t be happier!
